Super watch at a fantastic price

The Hamilton Khaki King is generally acknowledged as one of the best automatic field watches you can buy for under £500.
The build quality of the watch is great and isnt too heavy along with the bracelet. The brushed steel has a nice feel to it along with the polished bezel.
The time keeping of this piece so far is very good missing out every day by a few seconds which is great.
I would definitely recommend this timepiece to anyone who is uncertain of buying it.
Also for people that are curious, the Khaki King purchased from here is the new version with the new H-40 movement compared to the older movement, there are no noticeable difference for me apart from the appearance of the H cut into the rotor but the new movement has an 80 hour power reserve which is top notch!

Love this watch. The face, the strap, the open back all make it feel like a much more expensive watch but one that Im happy to wear on a day to day basis. A good quality item all round.

Great looking watch. Up to the quality of a rolex day/date. Hamilton has a great brand, featured in many films and unique style. This is great style with clear display and always gets good comments.

I bought this watch for my husbands 50th birthday, He wanted a watch that was easy to read and liked the military style. I chose it for these reasons but also for the luminous markings which works well and has stopped him turning the light on at night. I just love the exhibition case back! My husband was very pleased with my choice and says it is very comfortable to wear.

Ive had this watch for just over three days and so far, it has maintained really accurate time. This was one of those watches that just seemed to catch my eye in a crowd of others in the cabinet and it was a bit of a must have moment. The hands, numbers and hour markers are all painted in luminova and whilst not as bright as some Citizen and Seiko models, the lume remains bright enough to read through the night. The front crystal is a chunky piece of sapphire meaning it wont scratch easily. It is also domed which gives the watch a really nice, classic look. The stainless steel case and bracelet is chunky, giving the watch a certain degree of heft. To start with it feels a little heavy but this does not take long to get used to. The thing I really like about this watch is the understated appearance in that it is not at all showy and does not try to draw too much attention to itself but at the same time has a high quality appearance and presence. The mechanism oscillates at 8 beats per second meaning that the second hand sweeps smoothly around the dial the increments only just perceptible.
I have to admit that this is a replacement item and because of that I cannot rate the watch a full five stars. I took the first one home and it stopped within an hour. The cause was found to be that the second hand was set too low on the arbor and at a certain point it was getting jammed on the minute hand. It is hoped that this was a one-off and that the new one will continue to perform well for many years into the future.

Had the watch for a little over a week now. Since 1st set up, its now only 10 seconds fast.
I wanted a watch that was clear to read as I wear glasses. On that point, I cannot fault the watch. I also wanted a readable day and date as some watches Ive had in the past, Ive needed a magnifying glass to see the date. Again the Hamilton passes this test with ease. And with the glass display back, 20% of the time I have the watch off, watching the internals ticking away from the back See attached picture.
So if you are after a good, automatic, day / date watch that is clear to read, and made to a very high quality, then I cannot fault this. Nor will you. At the price you pay for it, its unbeatable.

This is a really reliable watch. Although automatic watches can be a little variable in their time-keeping, this one is totally reliable. Much more so than the Oris watches I have had in the past. Extremely efficient prompt delivery.

The crown is a basic 3 position model. Twisting it one direction moves the date and the other direction moves the day. ETA 2834, COSC parameters (-4/+6 secs a day). So far so good, I recommend a purchase.
