I have no complaints about the quality of this watch. It has a nice weight to it which I appreciate and the whole thing feels very robust. The only thing I wish I'd thought of before my purchase, was the readability of the dials. I bought this watch because the dark aesthetic suits my general "style", however I do find it to be a bit bothersome actually reading it when not exposed directly to a light source. The hands also don't retain any luminosity for any amount of time, which would have been a redeeming quality. To summarise, if you're in love with it, go ahead. But if you want something even remotely practical, I'd suggest looking for something else.

Super schöne Uhr! Übertrifft sogar meine Erwartungen, da ich die Uhr nur von Bildern aus dem Netz kannte und somit ein Probetragen nicht möglich war. Habe nun nach langer Zeit meine Treue und verlässliche Citizen Eco Drive Thermo in den Schrank gelegt.
Das Anpassen hat super funktioniert, so dass ich die Nighthawk gleich anlegen konnte.
Super begeistert war ich auch von der Schnelligkeit der Lieferung. Am Wochenende bestellt, am Montag nachmittag in England zur Lieferung und am Dienstag Mittag an meinem Arm in Deutschland. Super!!!

Bought this for my boyfriend. He loves it - looks great on, good size. Only negatives - if it’s dark you can’t really see the hands as there’s no backlight, and it’s quite heavy. Not a dealbreaker though as it’s a lovely watch.

Having had a very good experience with Citizen watches in the past, there was only one viable option for purchase - That was another Citizen watch. My 8700 Calibre was purchased as a preset from my wife, some 10 years ago ! Never once had it lost time, or any of the features failed - This is testament to the brand and quality of a Citizen watch.

After 10 years of use, the 8700 was looking a bit tired and I wanted a replacement watch. I spent a fair amount of time, researching watches that were of similar size, and quality of the 8700 but wanted something different - The Nighthawk seemed to meet the criteria perfectly !

The watch itself is incredibly well made, the face and dial is surprising easy to read - This was one of my concerns before purchasing the watch.

The numbers and symbols are clear - And the fit itself is on par with the 8700, it doesnt feel heavy yet, you know you are wearing a watch Which any constant watch wearer will understand is essential !.

The clasp is better quality than the 8700, with the additional security of a flip clasp, as well as a push button release.

The stop watch feature is very useful, and the way the second hand moves is excellent when it is in stop watch mode - Very very smooth.

The dials and buttons are chunky, obvious and very tactile, as well as being textured for easy of use.

My only criticism with this watch at this early stage is the luminosity of the hands at night - Its not a deal breaker just not as vibrant as the 8700.

Overall, Id definitely recommend this watch - And the service from watchshop, as always second to none.

My husband turned 30 and I have been wanting to get him a Citizen Eco drive watch since I got one for my 21st 8 years ago! I love that you never have to replace the battery.
My husbands watch Is completely black which might make you think it would be difficult to read however the light catches the hands numbers and the other dials on its face clear enough for you to be able to read the time.

I bought the nighthawk to replace the watch passed down to me by my grandfather who was issued a Citizen during WWII. I felt the Nighthawk fitted the bill with its military look. The watch was easy to get fitted and looks beautiful. The glow in the dark hands work really well at night but the one little drawback with this watch is that in dusky light the dial can be hard to read. That said Im super happy with this watch and would highly recommend it.

Im very pleased with this watch, it looks very smart. This is my second Citizen watch and I can only say good things about them both.

Yes there isnt a light but forget about that, its not all that hard to see the time in low light.

If youre after something a bit different then definitely consider this.

Have been searching for an all black watch for ages and finally found it in a high street jewellers. Checked the price on Watchshoo and was pleased to find it 30% cheaper so without hesitation bought it. The watch looks great although being all black isnt the easiest to read in low light, disappointing that the calendar always goes to 31 days had an eco drive previously and that had a perpetual calendar.

Love everything about this watch

This watch is great, it looks good on the eye, has a real industrial look about it but at the same time looks sharp enough to compliment a suit. The all black face really does look the part, I have found in the past with all black faces and hands that it is hard to tell the time, but with this watch it is done brilliantly and you can easily acknowledge the difference in the black of the face and the hands, also when it gets dark, the hands and numbers on the dial glow a dull green when it has been exposed to light, this really makes the watch useful in dark and also makes it look more the part.

I purchased the Citizen Nighthawk as I have been a loyal fan of the brand for a number of years, but the this specific watch stood out above all others, the matt black colour, the sleek dark modern design and being Eco Drive was an excellent bonus.

When the watch arrived, promptly from Watchshop I was more than impressed, I like to know I am wearing a watch and this fits the bill, the build quality and design is outstanding and of a high quality.

The clasp is superior to all previous Citizen watches I have owned as this has a special locking clap that ensures your clasp will not spring open if your wrist expands because of hot weather or heat, a far better quality clasp all round.

The setting controls are simple and the booklet supplied is very simple to follow, this allows you to set the watch up running in minutes.

The operation is very smooth and the hand movements are perfect.

As for design and appearance I am very impressed, layered shades of black building up the various dials and hands.

The crown is a screw and pull crown which allows you to lock it in place once the settings have been made and prevents the watch from changing time when on the wrist.

I can say very little else other than if you are look for design, quality and build, plus you like things chunky and black this is the watch for you, I love it.

I researched for a long time into the various different watches available and the hundreds of different features they all had. I was looking for a watch, a special watch for my sons 18th Birthday but I was also on a budget. The first thing I did was have a look around town, at what the local retailers had to offer and as to whether they were running any special sales or deals. Unfortunately the watches that I liked the look of were outside my price range so I was very disheartened at the prospect of not being able to buy the specific watch I set my heart on, the Mens Citizen Nighthawk Chronograph Eco-Drive Watch CA0295-58E. It had an amazing look although some might say it would be difficult to see the time due to the black dial and hands. I so wanted to buy this watch for my son but just couldnt afford it. Someone suggested I looked on the Watchshop website, so I did and found that the Watchshop had exactly the watch I wanted at an amazing price and within my budget. The decision was made there and then so I bought it.
When I received the watch it was amazing - the quality was that of a watch costing hundreds of pounds more, the functions of the watch were incredible and the fact that the watch was an Eco-Drive meant that my son when he receives it for his Birthday, didnt have to worry about the battery running out. The watch is all black, a unique feature and something that makes this watch stand out in the crowd, the quality and workmanship is amazing and the fact that it is a Citizen watch means that you are paying for an incredible timepiece that will last forever and will always look modern. In fact I love this watch so much that if I could afford it I would buy one for myself.

Smashing watch have been looking to get this particular model for at least two years now, so once I saw the price on watchshop I couldnt resist.

I was looking for a ‘’black watch’’ which is at one hand very sporty and on the other hand also elegant watch which I can wear with my dress. Citizen Nighthawk was a great success. Watch looks even better in live than on pictures. The black and grey details are fantastic. At first I was negatively surprised because timer didn’t work. Soon I realized where the problem is. Due to the Eco drive system, watch was not fully charged. You can determine that if the second pointer is turning in two seconds instead of one. After charging my Nighthawk I left it exposed to sunlight everything works as expected. The only thing that I am missing is a light, because in low light or at night, you can have problems to figure out what the time is. Indicators otherwise glow at night, but not as much they should I leave the possibility that this is caused because watch is not fully charged was not exposed to sunlight enough. Otherwise the glow effect is remarkable. Eco drive is just the cherry on the cake which allows you continuous operation without interfering watch itself and consequent loss of water tightness. I believe this watch will attract many views and will definitely be one of my favorite pieces in my collection.
I cannot end my review without expressing extreme enthusiasm on website and overall service of WatchShop. From the very beginning shopping experience was great. WatchShop offers exceptional selection of watches, the website is extremely user – friendly, every watch is presented well, some even with video presentation, great amount of pictures / information and very useful customer’s reviews – first-hand experience. Nice looking watch, chunky and bigger than it looks in the photos, best wrist strap ever. However youre buying a dark black watch with a dark black dial and light black numbers, so dont expect to be able to tell the time with it. Also the serial numbers on the back are microscopic. Keeps good time so far. I think. And dont look at it while youre driving. Or in the dark.

The watch feels lovely on the wrist and is a nice weight, the only issue with this watch is a total lack of fluorescence making the watch impossible to read in dark conditions, however it is rare that I find myself in a completely lightless environment where I cannot see the time so this isnt a major problem.

Firstly fantastic prompt delivery, couldnt have been more happy with how efficiantly the product was with me. Packaging was great too bubble wrapped and secure, infact had a hard time opening myself! I bought this watch as a present. It was £70 cheaper than everywhere else. The delivery was swift and I collected the watch from a convenient local store without any waiting around or fuss. This watch is just what I needed to look smart for my sons wedding .Also it is easy to use and read just sun light to run the watch

I stumbled across this Citizen Eco Drive Nighthawk by accident, but when I saw it, the stumble turned into a fall, as I fell in love with it.
On recieving it, I was instantly impressed by the packaging and then hugely impressed when I opened it.
The watch itself has a good weight to it and the bracelet has a very secure and reassuring click to it. The black finish is head turning.
The dials and hands are easily viewable during daylight hours, and is also easy to initially set with a quality feeling screw down bezel.
The chronograph is easy to use and again has a secure feel to start, stop and reset it.
As a day to day watch its ideal, but myself, I prefer it for socialising.
One down side is that as night falls the dials do become harder to see, but to be honest its such a beautiful watch, and named Nighthawk, that the image it portrays of stealth and cunning far outweighs this.
If you are considering buying the Nighthawk, just be careful as it may creep up, undetected in the middle of the night and steal your heart..it did mine.

Good chunky watch with a decent weight to it.Love the all black look very stylish and quite unusual. Only slight down side is that can be a bit hard to see, may get better with more use Ive only had it a week but other than that a great looking watch.

The matte black makes it look really nice. The fit around the wrist is good, wasnt too keen on the colour however overall my boyfriend loved the watch so I cant complain really.

Brought this as a first watch can not fault it looks slick and fits the wrist nicely due. To bring pretty low profile on top. Being black doesnt mean it goes in noticed!

I have been looking for a watch for a few months now and after numerous try ons I came across the Citizen Nighthawk. What a find! The quality black finish makes a bold statement and oozes quality. Has all the functions you need, including the date which is a handy feature. I have seen some comments where people were questioning how easy it is to view at night, but I have not found this a problem, it actually glows in the dark. Not so bright it will keep you awake if left on your bedside but a nice almost dull green which I find perfect. The size of the actual face is also just right, big enough to make a statement but not too big it takes over your wrist. The actual bracelet strap is a quality finish and comfortable to wear all day and night. Finally the fact it is Eco-drive you never have to charge makes this a no brainer. Im very pleased with my purchase and would recommend anyone having any doubts over buying this, have no fear, you will not be disappointed!

This is my third Citizen eco-drive watch that I own, I find it a great advantage of not having to have replacement batteries fitted, as they always seem to stop working at a bad time.

Due to my job I need a watch that is low profile and is not shinny and reflective, I need an accurate watch that also does not have to many technical features, this watch provides me with my needs time, date and stop watch.

The watch case is black with a black/grey dial face, and the metal bracelet is black.

The only thing I would of like to of seen as options is versions with a Leather and Rubber strap, but I am sure I will be able to find a suitable strap.

I bought this item for my boyfriend for Christmas because he had misplaced a black toy watch he had. This is definitely an upgrade from the last watch as the Eco drive is a brilliant feature. I havent had the watch too long so I havent really explored any faults, except the buttons on the side are hard to press and you can not tell the time in the dark as this watch has no lighting features. Watch presented in a lovely box and container. Display on the watch is nice and clear. I like the fact the watch does not need a battery replacement, but that it is charged by light. The colour is nice and neutral making it a timeless piece.

This watch looks even better in real life than in the pictures. It is a good size and weight, feels substantial but not oversized. On close inspection it appears very well built.
Having had it 2 weeks I have already smashed it on several tables and walls etc and there is not a scratch to be seen in the finish!

Personally I chose a watch for appearance over function so am not too concerned about not being able to see the hands at night as people have mentioned previously: It is difficult to read the time in low light and nigh on impossible at night. There is no backlight. The spec suggests that the hands glow in the dark, however after wearing the watch for 2 weeks they still do not glow in the dark at all as far as I can tell and I remain reliant on my phone to tell the time in low light.

The chronograph function is simple and easy to use.

The date function goes to 31 each month and must be manually corrected.

Overall I am extremely happy with this watch.

it was a little big when it arrived but really easy to get ajusted via the jellewers its is black in colour and when I first wore it was worried about how I would beable to tell time in the dark but it is glow in the dark which makes it even cooler in direct sunlight the watch face looks Gray bit shows off the unique quality s I.e. the logos which are great overall I would definitely recommend this watch

Bought as a gift for my sons wedding day, it is a watch that he has admired for a long while so Im sure he will be delighted with it. It is a good weight and appears to be very well made, the face is clear despite it being black. The presentation box is a nice touch and the opportunity to extend the guarantee from 5 years to 6 years free of charge is an added bonus.

I was on the plane coming back from New York when seen the watch in the BA mag, my wonderful girlfriend purchased it for my birthday.

Great watch, has a solid weight to it, love the black on black look but as others have said it can be difficult to read in low light.

Great watch very different to a lot of others on the market. Dark face makes it really stand out. Only issue I have found so far is telling the time in low light is difficult as the hands dont light up. Strap has small links very stylish as an everyday dress watch.

I purchased the all black nighthawk model and boy what a watch looks stunning and looks a lot more expensive than it is there is nothing I would change about the style or looks of this watch its just stunning well done citizen keep up the good work in designing beautiful well made watches

Wat I think of this product for one the first thing that attract me to this product was the colour and the display and it can be wear in any occasion and with any thing I would recommend this item to some one who want class and style and let your watch says it all I was please with my item the only thing I was concern about was the band and would prefer the watch band was mad from a cloth material and the same colour but over all am very satisfied with my product

There is nothing bad about this watch, it looks and works beautifully. The all black strap/face give it a certain level of class. Nice and chunky too!

This is a spectacularly good looking timepiece. It isnt the easiest face to read but thats what you would expect from a blackout design!
That said, I have no trouble reading the watch in all but the darkest conditions.
The quality of the build, finish and movement are exceptional and with its substantial feel and solid construction this is exactly what I was looking for.
The only small thing I would add is that the glass is quite prominent and could do with being slightly set back.

The watch is very impressive looking in black colour but there is no back-light which makes it impossible to read the dial in night. The black ion plated steel is of good quality with nicely polished. The size of dial is very proportionate along with the strap which adores the wrist of the user. A nice watch in this price.

The image of the watch on the website does not do it justice !!! The watch looks must better in real life. It is a very nice and stylish watch built by a reputable watch brand. I have received numerous compliments about how nice it is. The worst thing about the watch is sizing issues, may have to get a link or two removed, but this is a common problem with metal strap watches and is not product specific.

I have bought this as a wedding present for my husband and he will love it. I wasnt sure if the face was too large when I ordered it but it was perfect, not too flashy, but very classy.

As soon as I saw this watch on Watch Shop, I immediately wanted to order it - the design was striking yet minimal and sophisticated, exactly what I was looking for.
Once I received it, I wasnt disappointed. The strap and bezel are jet black. The tachymeter area and inner face areas are dark grey, whilst the outer of the face is also jet black. The hands and hour markers are a slightly different grey colour and are easy to read, despite it sounding like a lot of dark colours going on on the face.
The watch is a nice weight, heavy enough to feel of good quality, but not too heavy that it weighs your wrist down. The actual build quality feels second to none.
The chronograph function is simple to use and accurate, although the lack of a click when pressing the button to stop the chronograph is slightly annoying as you have to manually check that it has stopped timing.
The luminescent hour markers and hands glow well after being in direct sunlight, but not so well in artificial lighting. A light would have been a nice added feature.
If there is one thing I would change about it, it would be that the seconds marker was the main second hand on the face, rather than one of the smaller dials. As it is, the main second hand only actually works as the chronograph second counter, so it stays completely static all of the time that the chronograph is not being used.
Overall I absolutely love this watch though. It is ideal for both business and casual wear, and many people have already commented on it. Ill be wearing this watch for years to come.

The citizen Nighthawk Black is a real quality watch. The style, look, fit, weight and over all quality of the watch is fantastic!! Im really glad I purchased it, after searching for a while now. If anyone is in two minds whether to buy this watch, I definitely would!!
